Nellie A. Wosu, a native of New Jersey attended New Jersey City University, where she majored in Economics with a minor in Psychology. She attended the Metropolitan Institute of Network Technology in New Jersey where she received certification in Network Administration and Telecommunications Wiring. Ms. Wosu achieved the designation of Certified Help Desk Manager from the Help Desk Institute of America. Ms. Wosu is also a member of NAFE, National Association of Female Executives.
Ms. Wosu began her career on Wall Street at the age of 18 where she worked for E.F. Hutton as a Municipal Bond Trader’s Assistant from there Ms. Wosu worked in various brokerage firms including: Smith Barney & Merrill Lynch where she was an integral staff member providing solutions for Investment Banking executive staff for nearly 20 years.
Her keen interest in law led her to become a network technology legal professional in international law firms. Ms. Wosu was responsible with 24/7 accountability for heading up the technology assignments for the Dutch/German, Asia-Pac, North America & Australia service spectrum. Ms. Wosu also worked as a consultant within Fortune 100 corporations implementing and providing networking support protocols. One corporation which Ms. Wosu is most proud of is her association with the Colgate-Palmolive Corporation, where she worked for 3 years assisting in establishing their next generation global network presence.
She was selected by Dr. Sharonne Hayes, Director of the Women’s Heart Clinic at the Mayo Clinic, Ms. Wosu studied at the Mayo Clinic and received a Certificate from the Science & Leadership Symposium to equip her to be an Advocate for Women and Heart Disease. Since 2003, Ms. Wosu is a National Spokesperson & Champion for WomenHeart, the National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease, headquartered in Washington, D.C., which is the nation’s only patient advocacy support group for women with heart disease. Ms. Wosu is also a 3x attendee of the WomenHeart Advocacy Institute. She has also been selected to participate in 2010 Advocacy Insitute. In her role as advocate for women’s health issues, particularly heart disease, Ms. Wosu has been to Congress on three separate occasions to encourage and garner the Senators and Representatives support of legislature to change the way in which women are educated, and cared for in matters concerning the number one killer of all women, heart disease. Due to her and her WomenHeart colleague’s diligent and relentless efforts the nation now has the WiseWoman Program throughout many of the 50 states. She has conducted seminars and been interviewed by national newswire services concerning her work as well as her own health concerns. She is a sought after national speaker who speaks from a mind, body, spirit perspective concerning women’s heart health issues and all other catastrophic illnesses that impact the self and the Self within.
Ms. Wosu’s spiritual foundation started out in the Episcopal Church where she was baptized and confirmed. She became an appointed member of the Diocesan Council and member of the Vestry. In the early 2000s Minister Wosu joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Jersey City, NJ under the pastorial leadership of Rev. Alonzo Perry, Sr.
Encouraging Word Ministries International, of which Minister Nellie is Founder and CEO was birthed into Minister Nellie’s spirit in 1995. This organization and body of work which is a labor or love for her has helped her in her own walk with heart disease. Minister Nellie is permanently disabled as result of her diagnosis/prognosis of Congestive Heart Failure Stage IV. Ms. Wosu is an ordained minister. She is a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Concord, North Carolina, where Rev. Herb Rhedrick, is Senior Pastor. Ms. Wosu is one of several mentees of Pastor Rhedrick that is studying and working towards ordination in the Missionary Baptist denomination, she is also working towards an advanced degree in Theology.
